The tank cleaning
Why clean and maintain your heating oil tank at all?
- Because heating oil is a product made from natural raw materials, it ages and over time ageing substances settle on the bottom of the tank, causing sedimentation. This oil sludge must not get into the burner.
- Because moisture enters the tank through the ventilation pipe and condenses. Since water is heavier than heating oil, it also sinks to the bottom of the tank.
- Because containers made of sheet steel develop rust over time, which detaches in small particles from the walls and ceiling and settles on the floor.
This is where - slowly but surely - the so-called soil phase/oil sludge forms. This is so aggressive that it attacks the steel.
The soil phase eats through the bottom of the tank if you don't do something about it early on!
Although plastic tanks and tanks with a leak protection lining do not rust, they also require regular and special cleaning, as there is also a risk that the bottom phase / oil sludge will be sucked in and damage the burner.
Consequences: burner malfunctions or failure, and this mostly in winter!
A heating oil tank or system should be cleaned every 5 years for preventive and inspection purposes.
If requested, heating will be maintained during the work by a temporary oil supply.
Professional execution is just as important to us as customer satisfaction. Punctuality and cleanliness are among our core values.

Get an insight into how a tank cleaning could work
1. Setting up the construction site.
2. Construction of a folding container (intermediate storage up to 20,000 liters possible).
3. Pump the still clean and usable heating oil into a collapsible container.
4. Suctioning and skimming off the oil sludge.

5. Manual cleaning. (Remove old anodes, if present).

6. Wipe the tank floor dry. Check the inside of the tank and the floor for corrosion damage.

7. Return the still clean heating oil into the cleaned tank.
8. Close the tank system. Put the burner back into operation.
9. Creating a tank cleaning certificate for the TÜV.
